It's the simple things

The simple things have been making me so happy lately.

Like this girl's final day of preschool.

Like watching these two marvel at nature's splendor aboard the Georgetown Loop Railroad.

Like dancing for the pillars at Cheeseman Park.

Like John Schmidt's inspiring piano performance Love Story (Taylor Swift) meets Viva La Vida (Coldplay). I have listened to this at least 100 times. If you have not watched this, please do. If you have already, listen again. It builds and inspires...and I get goosebumps every time.

Read the story here on KSL.

And last but certainly not least, I love children's candor. When driving to the zoo last week, we had the following conversation:

Me: Who's going to preschool next year?

Bode: ME!!!!!!

Me: Who's going to kindergarten?

Hadley: ME!!!!!

Me: What's Mommy going to do while you're gone? I think I'll just cry the whole time.

Hadley: No you won't. You'll be out hiking every day.

Busted.

I LOVE that Jon Schmidt piece. Jon Schmidt rocks. At least your kids think you do something when they are gone. My 13 year old said to me, "Mom, what do you DO all day?"

That music is beautiful! Makes me sad I never tried in the 10 years of piano lessons I took.

I say the same thing- that I'll cry all day. And they say no, you can do whatever you want- You can sleep.
Guess they know I'm sleep deprived.
I'm apparently more lazy than you.

First, I love the song. I think I'll listen to it again while I unload the dishwasher.

I love that you're going to hike everyday. What an inspiration you are! Enjoy it.

I also love (full of love on this post!) that you are enjoying the simple things. Sometimes it's so easy to look past those things.

Doesn't everybody have a picture of themselves dancing in a place like Cheeseman Park? It certainly brought back the memories.

Oh the freedom of kids in school. That's exactly what I did, Hike, when my kids were all in school. I was an obsessive hiker for a while, have toned it down. Used to hike all over the Flatirons for hours. Then I realized my house was falling apart.Dang! But I was in awesome shape!
Beautiful music. Thanks for sharing! My daughters love Taylor Swift, I will def. tell them about this version.

LOVE the pics! Your little stinkers are so darling.

I've often told my family that the first year that everyone's in school, I'm going to sleep. For the whole year. The second year, I'm going to clean the house. And yes, it will take me the WHOLE YEAR to get this place clean. So year three will be the first year that I actually do fun stuff... So, call me in three years and we'll go hiking together, okay? :-D
