Our church building is located on a large property with a beautiful grove of trees. People often hold wedding receptions there and church members are responsible for its maintenance. In the winter, we shovel. In the summer, we weed. And in the fall, we rake.
Leaves, in case you are not aware, are allegedly a great source of nutrients for some people's pumpkin patches.
As we were leaving church on Sunday, the kids and I started walking to the car while Jamie made a beeline in the opposite direction. At first, I had no idea what he was doing.
And then I saw the bags of recently raked leaves in the garbage.
Me (beckoning across the parking lot): "Jamie, you are wearing your suit. Get out of that dumpster!!!!"
Friend Dawn who was walking by at the time: "Are things really that bad at home, Amber?"
Me: "You have no idea."

Love it ; )
Excellent response to Dawn.
I must say his dedication is impressive.
a picture of that would have been priceless! you are such a good sport.
The man could never be called anything but dedicated. :-)
Wow.
He is welcome to come over to Kansas and take our leaves too!
We've got some leaves you can have, and they're not even in a dumpster!
We did drive by a house with a sign that said, "We want your dry leaves!" Maybe Jamie can make his own and skip the trash.
Ooohhh... now the RS is gonna show up and start asking questions like, "Is there any way that we can help you?"
I'm kind of surprised that a casserole hasn't already made it's way to your doorstep! :)
That is just way too funny!!
I am willing to donate my 14 bags and counting- well- other than more than half have made it to the landfill already.
I will leave them nicely on the curb if he wants to come to Utah and get them :)
You are a good wife!
hahahaha =)
Wish I would of read this YESTERDAY.. have 2.5 acres of leaves .. That would've been a site at Mortons, eh?
Mortons would've loved it. :-)
My cottonwood would be Jamie's delight and downfall. It brings us 50 bags of leaves every fall, but also blocks pumpkin growing sunshine.
He's welcome to any of the 50 bags, which I am off to work on right now.
Jamie is salivating over all these alleged multiple bags of leaves. :-)
:) Always entertaining!
Amber, your stories always crack me up. You deserve a pumpkin growers' spouse award if such a thing exists.
It sounds like something my husband would do, if he had a "passion" like pumpkins.
