"What? AGAIN?!"
The kid leads a tough life.
During an interview with the Denver Westword when I was still pandering for votes, I told them I would throw a big Olympic party if I won.
I also said I'd go to Disneyland.
One out of two ain't bad because I threw a party for about 30 of my closest friends on Saturday night. I kept it low-maintenance: Jamie showed off his old-fashioned soda fountain and made root beer floats. We ate gold medal cookies and these glorious bacon goodies that I left simmering in the oven for an hour too long but they were still yummy.
At the last minute, I bought a huge veggie tray from Costco because you know, no one brings veggie trays to parties.
Except for the other four people who brought the same thing.
Evidently, I need less health-conscious friends and more bacon.
We played Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, I showcased my new Acer Timeline Computer with Microsoft Office '10, and some of the men watched Star Trek on Jamie's big-screen TV. It was a fun evening and I was grateful to be surrounded by such good people.
Especially the ones who made new discoveries about my own home, like my friend Angella's 2-year-old son.
Her: "Gavin was really excited to find the sandbox in your house!"
Me: "Ummm...we don't have a sandbox in the house.
Turns out, it was the kitty litter box.

I'll have to watch for you in "Mormon Times".
Everyone loves a good party--even with too many veggie trays. The cookies look yummy.
Litter box...sandbox...same thing when you get right down to it, right?
right?
If I ever meet you I will bring bacon. Don't you worry.
Bacon is Haddie's favorite on the entire world. In fact, the last time we had it, she vowed, "I'll never forget about you, bacon."
:-)
It's always a party at Amber's house, right?
As one of Amber's childhood friends, her house is definitely a part all the time!
P.S. Kate...again. :-)
I always take veggie trays... just so I'm guaranteed vegetables to eat!
And when you said "bacon goodies" I was really hoping you'd served bacon mints! ;-)
Mmm...bacon...
So thrilled for you Amber - what an amazing opportunity! Wish I were headed down to Vancouver for the festivities but it was a choice between Olympics or Temple dedication.
I THINK we chose right...hmm...
Ewww....bacon mints. Such great memories in San Francisco's China Town. -)
I am SO happy and excited for you! Yeay! Yeay! Yeay! (Happy dancing is commencing!)
P.s. On Twitter I am now LisaontheLoose. So if you're wondering who the heck that is... Its me!
I can vouch for the bacon bits. I had 3 and all of them were delish!
Delightful party. We enjoyed meeting the other Amber fans. And Daughter/Son are already asking when they can play with your kids again (the princess clothes and the Wii Olympics might have something to do with the request.)
You see?!?! You know how to throw a party! How cute are you?
;) Congrats.
You might want to pack your rain gear, because I hear we have some wind and rain coming this weekend! Umbrellas are banned at venues, but little ones are okay. We generally wear waterproof jackets with hoods and funky rubber boots.
Layers. Fleece. Because when you least expect it, the sun will come out and it will be "oh-my-god-gorgeous". :)
My gosh, I can't believe you're leaving...already. Although, you've been waiting for this for a real long time (hush-hush-since Christmas and all) so, enjoy and have a FANTASTIC time!!!
As if you needed permission...DER.
Rain?
And now that I have permission, let the partying begin. :)
I read your story on LDS news! Thats great! I am actually from the Vancouver area but live in Edmonton right now and also heading out to Vancouver for some olympic action next week. Although, I only have tickets to a victory ceremony, it should be fun.
If you have time you should check out the almost completed temple in Langley.
Have fun!
MmMMM i just found your blog !SO COOL! Do you have a recipe for those cookies? They look super good!
hEY yOU aRE qUITE tHE pARTY gIRL. :) We had that same special plate growing up. So fun!
