I'm just glad it's him.
After that, our whirlwind travels will be officially over until summertime.
Mostly because pumpkin season will take over our lives in April.
I'll admit it: I'm always thinking about the next trip. Now that my kids are bit older and intrepid travelers, this is going to be a banner summer. Some things in the works:
- A visit to the grandparents in Utah. Salt Lake City, that is. Sweltering Southern Utah is the last place you'll find this heat-hating Canuck.
- Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Shockingly, we have never spent time at Glenwood Springs' famous hot springs. We're excited to do that and more by checking out the Glenwood Cavern Adventure Park, replete with a Tram, Laser Tag, Cave Tours, 4D Ride Theatre, Thrill Rides and what I'm sure will be my personal favorite: Demon the Bull.
- Crested Butte, Colorado. During my family's Tour de Colorado last summer, Crested Butte was our favorite stop. The Crested Butte Music Festival + The Wildflower Festival + the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory's Nature Camp + the best views in Colorado = an unparalleled Colorado vacation. A repeat performance is definitely in order.
- Another attempt at camping. The last couple of experiences have not exactly been memorable (read about my nervous breakdown here).
As for the trip I'm most excited about? My generous mom rented out a beach house for a week in the Outer Banks. My entire family will be coming from all corners of North America for seven glorious days at the beach. Our house has great amenities such as a private swimming pool, game room, basketball, volleyball and much more.
But 18 people (with seven of them under age 6) living under the same roof for seven days?
During hurricane season.
Except for some great blog fodder.
Do you have any fun plans for summer?!

You will L-O-V-E the Outer Banks!! One of our favorite family vacations of all time. The water is so warm! Not sure what area you are staying, but if possible, take the ferry to Ocacroke Island if you like pirates. It is here that Black Beard the pirate met his demise at the hands of the British Navy.
I love the Outer Banks!! My husband's family went there every summer when he was growing up and he introduced that wonderful place to me!! Now we have been there as a family 4 or 5 times.
It will be great to share the East Coast with you for 7 days!! I know I will feel your presence.
Great tips on the Outer Banks--keep 'em coming! I've heard wonderful things about Ocacroke Island. Can't wait!
All of it sounds wonderful. I've never even heard of the Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs. I checked out their website and it's on my family's must visit list this summer. THanks for the tip!
We LOVED outer banks. I think that was my favorite vacation of all time! I keep trying to convince my in-laws we should vacation there, but they insist on cancun. Which is where we are heading for spring break.
We're going to get to Glenwood Springs too, sometime this spring or summer. I've lived here in CO for 14 years and have only passed through! Other plans: Israel, NYC, and Montana. We're excited!
Cancun is a pretty nice alternative!
And Lisa--I'm so jealous you're going to Israel. I did a Study Abroad there and have been dying to go back.
Just not in the summer. Waaaaaaay too hot for me!
Sounds delightful! I wanna be you!
Travel plans? I think we might journey to Salt Lake at least once. A 15-minute drive sounds good.
Women with new babies are exempt from travel!
Go to Portland in May to visit the mission.
Go to CA where I grew up and hopefully go to Girls Camp in June & also be there for the 4th of July.
Utah for my sister's wedding in July.
San Diego and Vegas a time or two since its about a 5 hr drive or so to each place.
I <3 to travel..west coast that is.
Would love to go to NY or Hawaii this year. We'll see!
Ohhhh, all sound wonderful!
Sounds like you're going to have a great summer! I wish we traveled more. We'll head to Idaho... like we do every summer. And we'll do all the same activities and see the same faces. Hmm... perhaps we need to become a little less predictable!
Like you, I'm always looking forward to our next trip. I envy all your plans! My husband and I just celebrated a big wedding anniversary and almost, almost went back to Vail, where we had our honeymoon. I don't know how close Vail is to you, but -- maybe I coulda met ya! The beach house sounds fabulous. Everyone should rent a beach house at least once.
We are going on a cruise--surprise! It's pretty much what we do! But this year my mom is coming and so is my sister and her family.
Vail is about 1.5 hours away but you'd need to fly through Denver!!!
And a cruise sounds lovely. Haven't been on one for a couple of years.
Wow - more travels for all of you... enjoy!! Take lots of photos to share with us, OK?
